Assalamu Alykom Br. Alireza,
We have missed your observation last month (Safar 1425)! I wonder, weather you tried to observe the crescent or not? Your observations are always important to us, thus we'd like always to hear from you :-)!
Moh'd
Best Regards

Dear brother Mohammad,
Whit greetings from Esfahan!
At the beginning, I find it necessary to express my sincere congratulations to you and other friends in JAS, especially, Dr. Tarek Katbeh, on the occasion of successful observation of Safar 1425 crescent in Jordan.
I have not done the observation of the above-mentioned crescent. At that time the weather in most parts of Iran was cloudy and dusty.
Thank you very much for your kind consideration for the crescent observation activities in Iran. At present, we are ready for the four major observation of evening crescents on June 18, 2004, September 15, 2004, November 13, 2004 and February 9, 2005. The last two are of more importance for us; because we will make use of them for Yallop criteria test. So far, we have had five successful crescent observations in Iran whose "q" parameter was lower than -0.231:
1- January 7, 2000 ( q = -0.236 ) by Alireza Mehrani, 12x70 bin
2- August 19, 2001 ( q = -0.277 ) by Alireza Movahhed Nezuad, 40x150 bin
3- September 7, 2002 ( q = -0.272 ) by Mohsen Ghazi Mir Saeed, 40x150 bin
4- November 5, 2002 ( q = -0.233 ) by Alireza Mehrani, 12x70 bin
5- January 22, 2004 ( q = - 0.262 ) by Alireza Mehrani, 15x80 bin
The investigations of these observations indicate that even if the "q" parameter were -0.277 (the lowest q parameter in the observation Mr. Alireza Movahhed Nezuad), the crescent would be observable by means of optic tools. For the same purpose, in order to do the crescent observation on November 13, 2004 and February 9, 2005, we will be settled in some zones in Iran where the "q" parameters are between -0.265 and -0.280.
At the end, I should once again thank you and Jordanian Astronomical Society for the international struggle on the subject crescent observation.

Sincerely,

Alireza Mehrani

Dear Brother Alireza,
Assalamua alaikum. Greeting and congratulations on your observation
project from MOONSIGHTING.COM
Your crescent observations and taking deep interest in the criteria to
predict sighting is very important to us at Moonsighting.com.
I am really glad that you documented and provided to us the telescopic
observations where Yallop's "q" was less than -0.231. You very well
know that I am continuously revising my criterion (although you do not
see it, because Mooncalc has not included my detailed croteria like
Yallop's). But since MoonCalc6, I have revised my criteria a couple of
times based on your observations and others.
Keep up the good work, and send me your info promptly.

Thank you very much.

Khalid Shaukat
