Dear brother Mohammad
Honorable members of ICOP
السلام علیکم و رحمة الله و برکاته
First of all I would like to congratulate you and all Allah servants the Holy month of Ramadan. On Sunday 31 July 2011, more than 168 Iranian observer groups from the whole country did the observation by telescopes or binoculars. For this great observation, everything was arranged formerly. The mentioned groups were under the consideration of 31 state centers and they sent their observation reports to the Supreme Leader Observation Office.
We considered doing the crescent observation at three different times:
- Observation by telescope on daylight
- Observation by telescope and binoculars about sunset
- Observation by telescope and binoculars after sunset
Some of our observers had special records on crescent observation at daylight. We asked them to settle on highlands for decreasing the meteorological factors (steam and dust). The received reports indicated that the observation about and after sunset had no result. We had anticipated it and knew that there would not be any chance to observe the crescent at this time, because of the inappropriate meteorological factors in most parts of the country and insufficient moon altitude at sunset time.
We hoped to observe the crescent at daylight. In this regard, we received 10 reports. The exports who are the members of crescent Observation Office and I, rejected 5, because of the short time of observation (about some seconds) or distrust to observers or perfect recognition about observers' experience, but accepted 5 others. All of them were represented by those who had precedence on crescent observation at daylight.
